WaveScope ("we", "our", or "the Service") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use WaveScope.

WaveScope is a fully client-side, browser-based application for exploring and visualizing seismic waveform data.
- We do not operate a backend server.
- We do not collect, transmit, or store personal data.
- We do not require user accounts or authentication.
- We do not use cookies.
All processing happens locally in your browser.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or process any of the following:
- Personal information (such as name, email address, or IP address)
- Uploaded files (including MiniSEED or waveform data)
- Waveform data retrieved from external FDSN web services
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Cookies or similar tracking technologies
No data is sent to any server operated by WaveScope.
3. Local Processing of Data
All data handling occurs entirely within your web browser:
- Uploaded MiniSEED files are processed locally.
- Waveform data retrieved from FDSN web services is requested directly from the selected data center and processed in your browser.
- WaveScope does not proxy, store, or log any data requests.
WaveScope has no visibility into the data you load or visualize.
4. Local Storage
For user convenience, WaveScope may store a small amount of non-personal preference data in your browser's local storage, such as:
- The most recently selected data center
- UI preferences (e.g., last used options)
This information:
- Never leaves your browser
- Is not shared with us or any third party
- Can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's local storage
5. Third-Party Services
WaveScope interacts directly with third-party FDSN web services selected by the user.
- Requests are sent directly from your browser to the chosen data center.
- Data availability, content, and service behavior are governed by the respective data center's policies.
- WaveScope does not control or monitor these services.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of the relevant data centers if you have concerns.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
WaveScope does not use:
- Cookies
- Analytics tools
- Advertising or tracking scripts
- Fingerprinting or session recording
7. Children's Privacy
WaveScope does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because no personal data is collected, no special handling is required.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes in the Service. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
