These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of WaveScope ("the Service"). By accessing or using WaveScope, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of the Service

WaveScope is an experimental, web-based application that provides tools for browsing and visualizing seismic waveform data using client-side technologies. The Service operates entirely in the user's web browser and does not require user accounts or authentication. WaveScope is currently provided as a beta service and may be modified or discontinued at any time.

2. Permitted Use

WaveScope is provided free of charge and may be used for:

  • Research purposes
  • Educational purposes
  • Personal, non-commercial use

Commercial use, resale, or use as part of a paid service is not permitted without prior permission.

3. External Data and Services

WaveScope acts solely as a client-side interface to third-party services, including FDSN web services operated by external data centers.

  • All data is retrieved directly from the selected data center.
  • Data availability, accuracy, completeness, and licensing are the responsibility of the respective data providers.
  • WaveScope does not host, modify, or validate external data.

Use of external data is subject to the policies and terms of the respective data centers.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in a way that could damage, overload, or impair external data services
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or misuse the Service
  • Use automated tools or scripts to generate excessive requests
  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

WaveScope is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees regarding:

  • Availability or reliability of the Service
  • Accuracy or completeness of data retrieved from external sources
  • Suitability of the Service for any specific purpose

Use of the Service is at your own risk.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • WaveScope shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from use of the Service
  • This includes, but is not limited to, data loss, service interruption, or incorrect interpretations of data

WaveScope may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time without prior notice. As an experimental service, features and behavior may change.
